People like to talk about the “real deal”, the stuff that moves you to tears of recognition or joy and makes you realise that you are not alone. Some people try their whole lives to capture it, nurture it, share it with others. Few get there; they go soft in the head or the heart before they get to the peak, if they survive at all.
Angelo Palladino made it there, and he knows it. He is the real deal. Every broken heart, cigarette and sleepless night – and there have been many – he’s turned into song, opening up the delight of the ages in the process.
Blood, blues and bad dreams? You can be sure of it.
